While shopping at Hancock Fabrics, I came across this cute linen fabric on sale. I tend to buy more "girly" fabrics but I thought this one would be good to have on hand for a boy outfit. I used Simplicity Pattern #4243 to make this simple bubble with pleats for an infant boy. There are additional styles with a collar, sleeves and a long pants also.
This is the girl dress style from the same pattern. It also had views with a collar, sleeves or a band along the bottom.
To add a little fun, I made the bloomers out of the polka dot fabric. I used the red/white dot fabric for the bias neck and arm finishes on both the boy and girl outfits.

Nanette, these are adorable! When did you sew these? I received an online coupon in the mail from Hancock 40% off one non-sale item and then Tommy gave me a Hancock gift cert for Mother's Day so I am almost ready to go shopping!! I pray your Mother's Day was great!
I made these awhile back and gave the boy outfit to a co-worker who had a son. I still have the girl outfit. A gift certificate and a coupon, great combination for a shopping trip. I had a great Mother's Day. We ate at The Grapevine. Yum!!!!
Cute! I bought some material to make my son a JonJon but it just doesn't look like him. A JonJon doesn't suit him. I need an idea! The material is primary colors with large (size of toddler's hand) print of helicopters. The other material is a small print of alligator in green. Both are on white background and I cannot think of anything. They are both so cute and I hate to not use them! Any thoughts oh sewing wise one? haha
I made alot of shorts with elastic waist out of prints for my son and just got solid color T-shirts to go with them. That way you can use the bright prints but it is toned down with the TShirt. You could also cut out one of the helicopters and applique it on the tshirt.
Great idea! Do I have to do anything other than sew the 'copter to the shirt? Do I need some cushiony stuff?? I am new to this -I don't know what that is called! haha
You will need some fusible interfacing. It should say on the package that it is used for appliques. There should be directions for it's use on the package. After ironing it on the shirt, you can either sew around it with a satin stitch or use some of the fabric paints to outline the edges. Good Luck. Let me know how it turns out.
I love these little outfits, they are so cute! especially with the polka dot linings and pants!!
