Annette Reversible Sundress - Customer Creation

Here is a customer creation from Cathy using the Annette Reversible Sundress pattern. I saw this fabric by Fabric Finders at All Brands and thought it was so very cute. The bunny applique really adds to the look. What a cute Easter dress for a special little girl.

Thanks Cathy for sharing these pictures.

Dee Dee Pleated Dress Pattern, Tana Tutu Pattern and embroidery

I may not post alot in the next few weeks. Both my parents are having surgery soon and I will be juggling work and taking care of them for a few weeks. Sewing is one of those things that I do that helps during stressful times so I spend alot of time sewing the last few days. I've made a couple of things for gifts but have also begun to revisit some of my patterns. I am considering putting my patterns in paper format and want to make any revisions or additions before doing so. Besides that, I have been wanting to try new things on my embroidery machine. Now that I am more comfortable with it, I see all kinds of possibilites. Here are some pictures of what I've been working on.

This one was made as a gift for a little girl named "Ava". I wanted to try one of the monogram fonts I had . I downloaded some free fonts from a website. One of them didn't embroider well and I had to recut a front. I learned my lesson though. I will definitely try new designs before putting them on the project. Fortunately, I had extra of this fabric and was able to cut another front.

This is made from the Tana Tutu Dress Pattern. Most little girls love to dress up and tutus are so much fun. I can't wait to see Ava in this dress.

This one is the Dee Dee Pleated Dress Pattern. I used some fabric from the bargain bin at All Brands. I think this is one of the dresses that has a timeless look that can be used for years.

I really liked the simple print and captured one of the bows for the center of the covered buttons.

Another Dee Dee Pleated Dress with fabric from my stash. Both prints are by Fabric Finders. This is one of the patterns I may revise. I used a wider sash and added a border. The border was actually an idea from a customer creation.

Tana Tutu Dress

I having fun with my embroidery machine. Here is the Tana Tutu Dress with "Tutu Cute" embroidered on the front. I'm still learning so the font probably wasn't the best choice. I think I needed something a little thicker to show up better but it was fun and I was satisfied with the results.

Sunny Wrap Dress Sewing Pattern with applique

I'm finally getting more comfortable using my embroidery machine and everyone was right - it can be addictive. I made the Sunny Wrap Dress in the reversible style using Heather Bailey coordinating fabric I purchased from All Brands.
The applique design is from Applique for Kids. I wanted something easy to try and thought the bow design would be something I could use on many projects. The dress took only a couple of hours to make.
This is the reverse side. I am drawn to fabrics with pinks and greens. All Brands in Baton Rouge has a large selection of fabrics from different designers. They keep adding more. It's hard to resist temptation to buy everything I like.

Adopted Grandchildren on Easter

This is one of my "adopted" grandchildren on Easter in a pillowcase dress I made for her. She and her family went to the beach for Easter.

Here is her sister, the Mermaid.
We had a quiet Easter. My mom, dad and children came over and I cooked for everyone. We had a crawfish pasta dish with lots of cheese, butter and rotel tomatoes. We all love the recipe but it has lots of calories.

APIL TBall - 1st Game

APIL (Ascension Parish Inclusive League); a non competitive sports league for children with and without disabilities had the first tball game today. It was a beautiful day and everyone had a great time.

Special tshirts were ordered for the participants and hats were also provided.

Many of the "regulars" were there as well as some new players.

Lots of encouragement and praise is given during the game.

We were able to participate with the other baseball teams in a kickoff of the season. A color guard was on hand with the flags.

All of the teams were called onto the field and the players announced by name.

When the APIL players were announced, the other teams and spectators gave an exceptional applause.

Once the National Anthem was played, all of the teams on the field greeted the APIL kids. It was so awesome to watch and the kids loved it.

Here is a group picture of our team.

Update: Betsey (program director and my daughter) was asked to throw the first pitch. I was busy talking to someone about the program and missed getting the picture. My niece sent me a copy. Thanks Karesa.

Tana Tutu Dress - Big Girl Style

When my "adopted" granddaughter came over to sew, she decided she wanted a Tana Tutu Dress. Since she is 8 we decided we would make it a little more "grown up" looking. She's 8 but is very slim so I had to adjust the pattern to fit. I slimmed out the sides, added buttons at the top instead of the ribbon and a longer tulle ruffle. I used the 6" tulle in a roll and it worked very well. It's made to fit her short so she can wear black leggings underneath. She came by today for the final fit and I finished it after she left. I hope to get a picture of her in the outfit to post.
